WA vs. CA for Stepson?

I want to move to Washington (Olympic Pennisula area). We are a family of 4 + 3 pets. I have a 13 year old stepson that needs a father in his life (whom has been absent for 10 years). We're about to lose our house and can't find good jobs here. Is it worth making a change? moving from the town I've grown up in (i'm 27) to be closer to my husbands Son? or am I completely crazy?
