What movie is this, please help!!?

Hello, for those who answered my last post (The Village) thank you!! In this one, which I believe took place in the late 1800s in England, there was a man and his wife who had marital problems (an affair by her I think). He was a Dr. who had a need to travel to the far reaches of China I believe. They went by land and the movie showed them traveling under terrible conditions, with her riding in a chair type, cutained device carried by 4 men. Their destination was a place with a terrible outbreak of cholera. He eventually came down with it and died. When they first arrived, they (the couple) were estranged, but through this ordeal she became much closer to him..Can anyone help me with the title? Thank you!!
