Does he really not like me?

School is almost over and towards the middle of school I liked this kid and I told him about it and nothing happened and than like a couple weeks ago he told my friend he liked me but didn't know if I liked him. Than after everyone found out they kept coming up and saying stuffto him and he got really embarrased and it doesn't help that he us shy to begin with. I was talking to him the othe say and he told me that he doesn't like me but he did before til his friends talked him out of it and his friends are mine too. he said I was too good for him..and we kept talking and he said he doesn't wanna o down that road again when I said somethig about dating. I asked him if he would like to chill sometime and he said that would be fun...does he really not like me?
