18 year old caught with weed?

3 friends and i (we live in cali) were caught with bud in the car and empty nas canisters. the cops got our info down and asked whos bud it was. we all said nothing and the cop said the blame would go to the driver. after uncuffing me and the 2 penger buddies, he took the driver and put him into the backseat of the cop car. however he told one of my friends to just take the flimsy .2 nug we had left and just toss it. we go ahead and do that, yet the cop still take the driver im guessing to the station. what are some consequences?
