Yes, you're mother is right. Why would you take it personally anyway? Things come up and people have to cancel previously set plans, it happens all the time. Now, if he kept cancelling on you for like a month straight, then you should def take it personally. But if it happens once or twice, that's life.....things happen. If he really was sick, he can't help that.
